Open Mindfulness teacher Jim Ewing is registered with the British Association of Mindfulness Based Approaches as a Mindfulness teacher. He is a teacher member of the Mindfulness Association and approved to teach the Mindfulness Based Living Course, Compassion Based Living Course and Mindfulness Based Living Course for Teens (12 - 18 years old). May 2020 Mindfulness Practice Online Session at 6pm on Wednesday 6th May:
Everyone is welcome to join the Wednesday online session via Zoom whether you practice regularly or you're curious about Mindfulness and it's your first time. This session is to replace the weekly drop in sessions at Finn's Place. We suggest a minimum donation of 3 per session to help cover our costs, however if you are unable to pay for any reason you are still very welcome to join the session.

Mindfulness for Health

A simple 8-week mindfulness and compassion course to give you the tools and skills to live well with your chronic pain or health condition.
Chronic pain and ill-health can feel unbearable, debilitating, and unfair. Many people at the beginning of these courses say their life feels completely overshadowed by their pain and illness.
Clinical trials have shown that mindfulness meditation can be as effective as prescription painkillers, and can enhance the body's natural healing systems. Mindfulness can also reduce the anxiety, depression, irritability, exhaustion, and insomnia that arises from chronic pain and illness.
Mindfulness for Health is the unique meditation programme developed by Vidyamala Burch to help her cope with severe pain and health complications following two major spinal injuries. She is now living a rich and fulfilling life, with more well-being than ever.
This course is a mix of mindfulness, meditation, supportive mindful movement practice, and modern pain management strategies, created and refined by mindfulness experts who've made it their life's mission to share them, having suffered themselves from chronic pain and health problems.
The course has been backed with huge amounts of research, and changed the lives of thousands of people.

Mindfulness Based Living Course

The Mindfulness Based Living Course (MBLC) is an eight week course consisting of eight classes, which are two hours long, preceded by drop in sessions or an introductory class before the eight week course begins. An optional half or full day of Mindfulness practice can be included between weeks 6 and 7. The MBLC course draws upon and follows the same proven 8 week format as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). Open Mindfulness courses and practices are secular so are suitable for everyone.

The Compassion Based Living Course (CBLC) is an eight week course building on the foundations of the Mindfulness Based Living Course (MBLC) with a focus on compassion practices for ourselves and for others

Many who have previously attended an 8 week Mindfulness course find that practicing regularly with others helps support them with their own practice and with the motivation to keep practicing. The practices are experiential in nature and a great way to try mindfulness for the first time or to revitalise your practice and intention to practice. Open Mindfulness courses and practices are secular and suitable for everyone of any faith or belief or none.
